The Adams family is one of later migration to South Africa, with almost all migration happening only 1-2 generations back. Generally, this family tree can be split into two distinct lines: the Adams/Andrews (Northern Irish) line, and the Malley/Page (English) line.
You might think that recent history in the United Kingdom would make research easier, but we're still early on in our UK research, there are still many ancestors and stories to uncover!
The Northerners
Our Adams/Andrews family line traces directly back to the Londonderry/Coleraine area of Northern Ireland, where our ancestors survived and in some cases thrived through some of history's biggest events. We have also found several cases of the famous 19thC Irish migration to Canada and the USA, further expanding the the Matthee Family diaspora.
Proper British
The Malley/Page line of our Adams family tree settled in Knysna, then Durban in South Africa, but before that they were citizens of England. Hailing from Devon, Essex, Kent among others, they are proper British stock!
